Back pain, and had mri done?
Question by Dink: Back pain, and had mri done?
Just got off phone with my doctors office. I had an MRI done on my lower back which I have had pain in for about 2 years. I go friday to go over results with doctor but he secretary was able to tell me that I had a disk sticking out.. ( and she used some other big word and I asked what it meant and she said like a disk sticking out) so anyways the doctor is confused as to why I am having certain pains because it doesnt look that bad. So on friday we will talk about treatment options.. What can i expect? and what does a disk sticking out mean? can anyone illustrate this for me?

I have a disc doing the same thing. If yours is like mine, it is pinching a nerve somewhere. I take a shot in my back from a pain mangement doctor. Most insurance companies want you to check with them first. mine really helped. It lasted 2 yearsand just had another and I feel so much better.
i guess they can surgically replace it or if it isnt to bad, grind it down(depends how it is sticking out or do a fussion. take some out and put a plate on it. Hope this helps but I would check about the shots. they wer worth it. Insurance should cover it.
Maybe this will help

There is a possibility that it can be a Pinched nerve but at the same time it can be something else. I suggest that you go see a doctor and not lift for a while until you know what it is.It can be something else that is more serius..maybe you damaged one of your disks? There are lots of other things that could of happened.

Can Gallbladder pain stop for a week and then come back?
Question by SBD racing girl: Can Gallbladder pain stop for a week and then come back?
I have been having some really severe pain in my right side, and after some exam’s (not xrays yet) The doctor thinks it’s my gallbladder. I had an ultra sound done and I am waiting for the results but I don’t believe I have stones, even though I don’t know what I was looking for, the imaging looked crystal clear. In the mean time, my pain stopped for about 3 days, then all of a sudden it’s back. Can this be common with inflammation cases? Or does the doctor need to start looking for other causes?

Q&A: Causes Of Left Side Chest Pain And Back Pain For Weeks?
Question by Evan: Causes Of Left Side Chest Pain And Back Pain For Weeks?
FIRST! Before everyone just comes on here and yells go to the ER your dying! Been there done that. I just had a total workup on my heart (all the tests, no family history) two days ago my heart is perfectly healthy, I am 24 a non smoker, non drinker, non drug user. I exercise everyday and have 120/70 BP. I have a sharp sometimes gnawing pain in my upper left chest, armpit, and back sometimes all at once. It comes and goes sometimes real intense. I notice it more than anything when laying down. I have done all the gas medicines with no relief all the anti inflammitories with no relief all the heartburn medicines with no relief. I am at my wits end. I am not looking for a diagnosis on here just maybe someone who has or knows someone who has experienced this and what tests I should ask the doc to run next. It almost feels like there is gas in my chest but I don’t know if that is even possible. I’m not worried just looking for some relief and an idea. I would appreciate thoughtful answers.
I also did not pull anything as well. Nothing really improves the condition except maybe moving around and sitting upright, it’s not a burning pain and I don’t get it in my throat. Sometimes it feels like my left arm gets sore like I just used it a lot no pain just sore. Could this be my back? A nerve?
I never thought of a kidney stone, I hope not I have been urinating extremely yellow pee lately. But urine and blood tests showed nothing.
Thanks for the great responses everyone! A lot of good ideas! I guess I should have mentioned I am a truck driver and sit for long periods of time but do walk for about 10 mins about every 2-3 hours then when I am done for the day I do 30 mins of jogging around the truckstop/dock/rest area and 30 mins of weights in my truck. I usually drink 2 liters of water a day and eat lean sandwiches and salads. (I know I’m not the typical truck driver, I’m out here to work not play and get fat). Thanks for all the help.
My chest does pop like knuckles real loud and often.

Intense back pain? Labor?
Question by Lani: Intense back pain? Labor?
I’ve been having really bad lower back pain concentrated on my left side like a pulled muscle all day. At first it was only hurting when I moved or twisted certain ways so I brushed it off too just sleeping wrong or something. But now it’s constant, somewhat dull, but getting a bit more intense but not extremely painful or coming in intervals. I have had some tightening in my upper stomach area, I think. But I can’t quite tell if it’s baby moving or what because that isn’t painful at all. I can’t time anything because nothing is regular or in sync. I’m going to go to sleep and I figure real labor will wake me up but just wanted to hear if anyone else experienced this. Thanks.
I’m 40 weeks, with second baby, scheduled to be induced on Monday, in case you were wondering.

You are definitely in labor. I had the same thing. Back pain all night, lost my appetite and then it started kind of wrapping around to the front. I would go to the hospital or at least get in within the next half hour to your Dr. Hospital is the best choice.
Congrats!!

Electrical Implants Short-Circuit Back Pain
Ricardo Andrietti loves to paint and spend time in his enormous garden. But a case of shingles left him with excruciating pain for nearly seven years. Doctors tried everything. They even got special dispensation to prescribe a dose of pain medication that Ricardo says was nearly a hundred times the normal dose. Even that only partially-controlled the pain. “One of the procedures of last resort is the spinal chord stimulator,” says Ohio Health Interventional Radiologist Dr. Mark Dean. With the stimulator, the doctor can use electrical signals to counteract the pain impulses that nerves send to the brain.

Lower Back Pain AFTER period?
Question by Jenna T: Lower Back Pain AFTER period?
My husband and I are currently ttc our 2nd child, now my period started on the 23rd of this month and was over by the 26th however I am experiencing some pretty bad lower back pain, along with some nausea. I highly doubt these are pregnancy symptoms because of my period just ending; do you have any idea what I might be experiencing? *Note* I know that you experience lower back pain during your period, I always do, but it is normally over by the 2nd day…never lasting until AFTER the period. Thanks to all

Answer by TTC Miracle #3
If there are no other symptoms I would think it was just a back injury. Maybe you recently did some heavy lifting and that is why it is bothering you. But, if there are other symptoms like discharge and lower stomach pains it could be a ruptured cyst. If it is still bothering you in a few days I would go for an ultrasound just to make sure everything is okay. My husband and I are ttc and I have had a few times where my lower back was bothering me and I went in to have an ultrasound only to find out that I had ruptured a cyst and the fluid was what was causing me pain. Good luck.
