Welcome to The Lower Back Pain. By accessing or using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

About This Site

The Lower Back Pain is an independent review site written for people who live with a nagging lower back and still want to drive, garden, travel and sleep well. We publish long-term, first-person reviews, comparisons and how-to guides on lumbar support pillows, electric heating pads, back stretchers, knee pillows for side sleepers and acupressure mats. Nothing here is medical advice, and every product is judged on comfort and everyday use.

Health and Product Safety

Nothing on this site is medical advice, and none of these products diagnose, treat or cure any condition. See a doctor or licensed physical therapist before starting any new routine, and get medical care right away for back pain that follows a fall or injury, is severe or getting worse, spreads down a leg, or comes with numbness, weakness, fever, or any change in bladder or bowel control.

Heating pads can burn skin even on a medium setting. Never sleep on a heating pad, never use one on numb skin or broken skin, and keep sessions short with the auto shut-off turned on. People with diabetes, poor circulation or reduced sensation should ask their doctor first. Do not use a heating pad that has a frayed cord or damaged cover.

Back stretchers and acupressure mats put concentrated pressure on the spine and skin. Start with the lowest setting for a minute or two, stop if pain sharpens, and skip them if you have osteoporosis, a recent spinal surgery, a known disc problem, are pregnant, or take blood thinners unless your doctor says otherwise. Lumbar and knee pillows should support a comfortable posture, not force one; stop using any product that increases pain.
